Planeta Azul will take you to the United Arab Emirates, visiting the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, where modern architecture meets tradition.

The cutting edge of luxury

Nestled on the Persian Gulf, Dubai is universally renowned as a city of the future. In this oil-rich metropolis, situated midway between the east and the west, the modern and the traditional exist side by side, making it an increasingly popular destination in its own right. This has turned the city into an oasis for international shoppers looking for a bargain. Especially in January, when the Dubai Shopping Festival takes over the city.

The second pearl in the UAE’s crown is the nation’s capital, Abu Dhabi. What was once a small village of pearl traders is today a modern metropolis, offering tradition, modernity and Middle Eastern charm in equal measure. Rapidly emerging as one of the world’s foremost entertainment destinations, Abu Dhabi is currently diversifying its economy towards tourism meaning that at every turn there’s something new to see or do.  As well as its thoroughly modern attractions, you’ll also have an opportunity to explore and learn from Arabic heritage, tradition and culture, visiting the spectacular Sheik Zayed mosque – the largest in the UAE.

Back in Dubai, you’ll also have free time to discover the city by yourself; the perfect opportunity to go shopping, or grab a bite in one of its diverse restaurants as well as immersing yourself in the history and tradition of it’s old town, Al Bastakiya.

Between them, these cities offer an exciting base from which to explore the past and present of the Gulf, whether this be an excursion to the impressive sandy dunes of the neighbouring desert, or treating yourself to a meal in one of the many world-class restaurants. From getting lost in the downtown markets to the rollercoasters and attractions of Ferrari World near Abu Dhabi to  taking the elevator to the top of the Dubai’s Burj Khalifa- at 826 meters tall, the world’s highest building – the UAE has something to offer for everyone.
